Registrations of interest are encouraged for two full-time and permanent positions available now in the Otago region. We are a roofing and cladding company working on some of the most stunning and challenging heritage homes and commercial projects in the South Island.
We are looking for two experienced Slate Roofers to join our team, specialising in heritage restoration work.
Key tasks and responsibilities include:
- Installing and repairing natural slate roofing on heritage and character homes and commercial buildings, in keeping with traditional methods and materials
- Fabricating and installing associated flashings, rainwater goods, and non-ferrous materials including lead, copper, and zinc
- Assessing existing slate roofs and advising on appropriate repair, restoration, or replacement methods sympathetic to the building's heritage character
- Organising material orders and liaising with suppliers for heritage-appropriate slate and fixings
- Ensuring all work complies with heritage conservation guidelines and standards where applicable
- Ensuring all customer interactions are positive, polite, and respectful
- Conducting all interactions with colleagues and managers in an open and collaborative manner to facilitate the best outcome for all required tasks
- Attending staff meetings and training as required
- Contributing to the implementation of the Safety Management System and of the equipment inventory
- Travelling to project sites, subject to H&S requirements
- Supervising junior staff

The minimum requirements for the job are:
- High levels of experience and craftsmanship in slate roof installation and repair
- A minimum 5 years' relevant experience, ideally including heritage or character home restoration work
- Experience working with natural slate, lead, copper, zinc, and other non-ferrous materials
- Sound understanding of traditional roofing techniques and heritage building conservation principles
- Excellent knowledge of reading and interpreting drawings
- Honesty and reliability with a solution-orientated focus
