About the Role

We are looking for a reliable and motivated Construction Supervisor to join our team and support the delivery of residential and commercial construction, maintenance and improvement projects.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising day-to-day site activities, coordinating workers and contractors, monitoring construction progress and quality, and assisting management to ensure works are completed safely and in accordance with project drawings, specifications and relevant requirements.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate day-to-day construction activities across residential, commercial and mixed-use building project sites.
  • Review construction drawings, site plans, specifications and site instructions to assist with the planning and coordination of construction works.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and measurements to monitor construction progress and workmanship, and check completed works against project specifications and relevant New Zealand building requirements.
  • Coordinate tradespeople, subcontractors, suppliers and other site personnel, and organise daily site activities and work sequencing in accordance with project schedules.
  • Monitor construction progress, identify site issues or delays, and coordinate practical solutions to maintain workflow and project timeframes.es, work sequencing and project schedules.
  • Monitor the quality of workmanship and materials used on site, and identify defects, incomplete works or non-compliant work requiring corrective action.
  • Coordinate the delivery and use of construction materials, tools and equipment, including assisting with material quantity estimates and monitoring resource requirements across active projects.
  • Liaise with project managers, clients, consultants, contractors and subcontractors regarding construction progress, site requirements and day-to-day project matters.
  • Maintain accurate site records, including measurements, photographs, inspection records, progress updates and other relevant construction documentation.
  • Assist with preparing and updating site sketches, layouts and other construction-related documentation where required.
  • Monitor workplace health and safety practices, identify potential site hazards, and help ensure workers and contractors follow applicable health and safety requirements.
  • Assist with pre-handover inspections, defect identification and rectification, and follow up outstanding works before project completion.
  • Provide regular updates to management regarding construction progress, site conditions, quality issues and other relevant project matters.

About You

Applicants should have:

  • A Level 6 Diploma or higher qualification in Construction Management, Building, Civil Engineering, Engineering Science, Building Technology or another related construction field; 
  • OR at least 3 years of relevant industry experience in construction supervision, construction management or project management.
  • Good understanding of construction processes, site operations and project coordination.
  • Ability to read and understand construction drawings, plans and specifications.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and practical problem-solving ability.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A positive attitude and willingness to take responsibility for assigned work.
