We are looking for an experienced and reliable Sheet Metal Fabricator to join our team in Dunedin, Otago region. We guarantee a minimum of 30 hours per week with a pay rate between $35 - $40 per hour depending on your skills and it is a permanent role.
Key Responsibilities
· Study and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine job, material, and equipment requirements.
· Select and inspect metal stock, including stainless steel, galvanised iron, mild steel, aluminium, and copper, ensuring sizes, gauges, and dimensions meet specifications.
· Measure and mark out metal stock using templates, gauges, measuring instruments, and other appropriate tools.
· Cut metal stock accurately using hand and power shears, guillotines, drills, and other equipment.
· Shape and form metal using folding and bending machines, rollers, presses, hammers, and other fabrication equipment.
· Fit and assemble components using welding, riveting, soldering, brazing, and other joining methods.
· Finish completed products by polishing, filing, sanding, cleaning, and carrying out quality checks.
· Repair and modify damaged sheet metal products and components as required.
· Carry out fabrication, assembly, and installation of sheet metal products both in the workshop and on-site.
· Maintain a clean and safe work environment and follow all relevant health and safety procedures.
About You
· Qualifications Required Level 4 or above in relevant field or 2 years of relevant work experience.
· Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
· Good knowledge of sheet metal fabrication techniques and equipment.
· Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
· Reliable, punctual, and safety conscious.
· Relevant trade qualification or equivalent experience is preferred.
