About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Surgical 4th Floor senior nursing Associate Charge Nurse Manager team reporting to the 4C Charge Nurse manager. This position will initially focus solely on the leadership within ward 4B, covering the Surgical Assessment Unit and the proposed Surgical Day Unit. The ACNM will provide leadership of the nursing teams to manage and support patient flow particularly in and out of the SAU; working with the Clinical Nurse Specialist team who provide rapid surgical patient assessment and differentiation of clinical outcome, to optimise a safe patient journey. The ACNM will facilitate the plan for admission to a ward, operating theatre or safe discharge home with follow up as indicated. The ACNM will also liaise with the Integrated Operations Centre to progress patient admissions and update on bed status.

The Surgical Day Unit being established will work to optimise the patient journey for those patients having day surgery procedures within the Main Operating Theatre on the Dunedin Hospital site who are projected to discharge home. This ACNM role will act as leader of the nursing team to facilitate patient admissions and discharges and liaise with the Integrated Operations Centre (IOC) as needed and medical teams/Allied Health teams to optimise the patient experience. They will be expected to support quality work, staffing, and provide day to day pastoral care to staff.

Over time it is expected that the ACNM can progress to work within the ward areas as rostered across the 4th floor alongside the existing ACNM team, to optimise leadership support as delegated by the 4th Floor Charge Nurse Manager team.

About You

• Current NZ APC
• PDRP Level 3
• Relevant post-graduate nursing experience
• Have proven experience in conflict resolution and mediation.
• Natural at building successful working relationships
• Desire to develop their advanced nursing and leadership skills.

Salary Range: This role is covered by the terms and conditions of the expired NZNO CEA and the salary will be in accordance with the DSN Pay Scale Grade 2, between $116,040 and $127,674 p.a dependant on relevant experience.
