About the Role

We are seeking a Civil Engineering Technician to provide technical support for civil engineering projects and assist with the preparation, coordination and implementation of engineering works. The role involves supporting project planning and design activities, preparing technical documentation and drawings, and assisting with site inspections and project coordination to ensure engineering works are delivered efficiently and in accordance with project requirements.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Support engineers in developing and preparing civil engineering plans and preparing related technical documentation
  • Assist with design and planning activities by producing sketches, measurements and technical schedules for engineer review 
  • Conduct construction material testing and compile, review and interpret test results
  • Gather and assess technical information from project sites to support engineering decisions and project delivery
  • Assist with site inspections and follow up on construction activities to confirm work progress aligns with approved designs and safety protocols
  • Support the coordination of civil engineering works and communicate with contractors and other project personnel on day-to-day project matters
  • Assist in compiling material and labour quantities and preparing associated cost estimates for project works
  • Maintain accurate project records, technical reports and other documentation throughout the project lifecycle

 

Skills and Experience

  • Minimum of a NZQF Diploma in Civil Engineering or a related field, or at least 3 years’ relevant experience
  • Practical understanding of civil engineering design, construction materials and site operations
  • Experience with technical drawings, engineering data analysis and project documentation
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD or other relevant engineering software
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Good communication and teamwork skills

 

Pay Rate

$35-$40 per hour

 

Guaranteed Working Hours Per Week 

Minimum 30 hours
