Horticulture Leading Hand

Position Title: Horticulture Leading Hand
Number of Positions: 2
Location: Te Puke, Bay of Plenty
Pay Rate: $32 – $38 per hour
Hours of Work: 30 – 50 hours per week

Key Requirements:

Minimum 2 years’ experience or Level 4 qualification.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and supervise a team of Field Supervisors to complete daily tasks efficiently and safely.
• Allocate Supervisors   to specific tasks to form a group of workers  according to daily production requirements.
• Monitor team performance, productivity, attendance, and work quality for the Site in charge 
• Train and support new and field supervisors  in workplace procedures and task requirements.
• Ensure kiwifruit is handled carefully to minimise bruising, damage, and product loss. This to be obtained from the field supervisor supervising  the workers.
• Monitor fruit quality and report any quality issues to the orchard manager.
• Ensure Supervisors meet required productivity and quality targets.
• Conduct toolbox meetings and communicate daily work instructions with the Supervisors. 
• Ensure all team members follow company health and safety procedures.
• Identify and report workplace hazards, incidents, and equipment issues.
• Organising daily work schedules and labour requirements before Supervisors and workers arrive on site. 
• Keep accurate records of worker numbers, hours, production, and completed tasks. This information would be obtained from Supervisors daily.
• Liaise with Manager regarding daily progress and operational issues.
• Maintain a professional, respectful, and productive working environment.
• Assist the orchard manager with achieving daily and seasonal production targets by being on the designated Site and managing the Site.
