Major Sandhu Transport Limited is currently seeking a dependable and punctual Class 5 Truck Driver to join its team in Wellington. We are looking for candidates with strong time management skills, a professional attitude, and a commitment to safe and efficient driving practices while carrying out daily delivery routes.

The role involves travel from Wellington to Palmerston North and occasionally to nearby
regions, with all work-related travel and fuel costs covered by the employer.

Key Duties:
• Operate a company Class-5 truck to transport and deliver goods to clients.
• Load and unload cargo safely and in accordance with proper handling procedures.
• Record delivery details and maintain accurate documentation.
• Ensure the vehicle is refuelled as required.
• Maintain the cleanliness and general upkeep of the vehicle.
• Report any road incidents or delays to management promptly.
• Drive in compliance with all traffic laws and road safety regulations.
• Conduct routine vehicle inspections and record any faults or issues.
• Notify management immediately in the event of an accident and follow required procedures.
• Maintain accurate logbooks of driving hours and activities.
• Report mechanical issues to maintenance personnel in a timely manner.
• Plan delivery routes using GPS systems to ensure timely and efficient deliveries.
• Maintain a positive attitude and provide professional customer service at all times.

You will be required to work for a minimum of 30 hours per week and be paid between $30 to $35 per hour.

Other Requirements:

  • Minimum 1 year of Truck Driving work experience.
  •  Must hold a valid New Zealand Class 5 Truck Driver's License or equivalent overseas  Heavy Truck License.  
  • You may be required to stay overnight away from home when required for work-related travel or operational requirements.
  • A clean driving record is essential.
  • Reliable and available to work weekends as required.
  • Available to commence work as early as 6:00 AM.
  • Physically fit and capable of handling day-to-day driving duties, including lifting where required.
  • Strong time management skills and attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated, hardworking, and committed to delivering high-quality work.
  • Able to pass a pre-employment drug test
  • Able to pass a Ministry of Justice (MOJ) criminal record check
