We are looking for an experienced and reliable Mason to join our residential property development business. The role involves masonry work as well as coordinating and supervising different trades during house renovation projects.
Job Duties –
- Read building plans, drawings and renovation requirements and determine the masonry work, materials and resources required for each project.
- Measure and set out brickwork and masonry areas, ensuring correct levels, dimensions, lines and alignment.
- Prepare work areas, foundations and surfaces for brick, block and other masonry work.
- Mix and prepare mortar, cement and other materials required for bricklaying and masonry work.
- Lay bricks, concrete blocks and other masonry materials to construct, repair and renovate residential walls, partitions and other structures.
- Cut, shape and fit bricks and blocks around corners, openings, windows, doors and other areas as required.
- Remove damaged or deteriorated brickwork and repair, rebuild or replace sections of walls and other masonry structures.
- Carry out repointing, joint finishing and general masonry repairs as part of residential house renovation projects.
- Inspect completed brick and masonry work to ensure it is properly aligned, level, secure and finished to the required standard.
- Use and maintain hand tools, power tools and other equipment required for bricklaying, cutting and masonry repairs.
- Coordinate the day-to-day renovation work at the property and organise the sequence of work between different trades.
- Liaise with and coordinate tradespeople such as plumbers, electricians, kitchen installers, carpenters, painters and other contractors engaged for the renovation.
- Monitor the progress and quality of work carried out by contractors and tradespeople and follow up on any issues or delays.
- Coordinate with the employer regarding materials, labour requirements, work progress, changes to the renovation and any issues requiring attention.
- Ensure that different trades complete their work in the correct sequence so that the renovation can progress efficiently.
- Carry out practical site inspections and identify any building, masonry or renovation issues that need to be addressed.
- Assist with organising materials, deliveries and access to the property so that trades can complete their work without unnecessary delays.
- Supervise workers and contractors on site where required and ensure that work is carried out safely and in accordance with workplace health and safety requirements.
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe worksite throughout the renovation project.
