Enhance security posture by deploying and maintaining enterprise security platforms

Information Security Engineer

As an Information Security Engineer within our Build and Protect Services squad, you will play a key role in protecting Westpac New Zealand's technology environment. You will help identify vulnerabilities, assess and manage risk, maintain and enhance cyber security tools, and respond to security threats across a fast paced and complex enterprise landscape. You will contribute to platform upgrades, support the deployment of new security solutions, and work closely with internal teams and vendors to continuously uplift Westpac's cyber security maturity.

This role is hands on and operational, with a strong focus on protecting our systems, our people, and our customers every day.

What will you bring?

  • Experience in a cyber security or information security engineering role.
  • Experience managing a range of cyber security tools such as AV, EDR, MFA, and DLP.
  • Knowledge of network technologies and core networking concepts.
  • Exposure to security technologies including email security, firewalls, URL filtering, and malware protection.
  • Experience with security platforms such as SIEM, PKI infrastructure, or related tooling.
  • Experience working in structured change environments using tools such as ServiceNow or similar.
  • Understanding of ITIL aligned change, incident, and problem management practices.
  • Exposure to Windows or Linux operating systems and scripting or coding languages.
  • Experience working with vendors and managing multi stakeholder issues.
  • Understanding of information security standards such as ISO 27001.
  • Experience working in regulated environments such as financial services or government is advantageous.
  • Exposure to cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud, including cloud security concepts and controls.
  • Assist with the operational health, lifecycle management, upgrades and continuous improvement of enterprise cyber security platforms.
  • Industry certifications such as Security+, SC-200, SC-300, AZ-500, GSEC, CCNA Security, CISSP, or equivalent are advantageous.
