The successful candidate will hold at least three years of relevant experience as a drain layer, or a relevant trade qualification in drainlaying, along with current registration or certification as a Qualified Drainlayer. Sound knowledge of relevant plumbing and drainage codes, pipe-laying techniques, and site safety practices is essential. The ability to independently interpret technical drawings and manage complex drainage installations with minimal supervision is required.

We are seeking an experienced and qualified Industrial Drain Layer to take a lead role in the installation, maintenance, and repair of drainage systems across a range of industrial and commercial projects. This role requires advanced technical skill, strong problem-solving ability, and the confidence to manage complex tasks independently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Independently install, repair, and maintain stormwater and wastewater drainage systems in line with plans and specifications
  • Interpret detailed technical drawings, engineering plans, and specifications, identifying and resolving discrepancies on site
  • Excavate, lay, and connect pipework to correct falls, depths, and alignments, ensuring compliance with relevant codes
  • Conduct pressure testing, CCTV inspections, and other quality checks on completed drainage work
  • Operate and oversee the safe use of excavation equipment and drainlaying tools
  • Ensure all work complies with relevant building and drainage codes, council requirements, and site safety plans
  • Identify and resolve on-site issues, including unexpected ground conditions or service clashes
  • Liaise directly with site supervisors, engineers, council inspectors, and other trades to coordinate work
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to less experienced drain layers or labourers
  • Maintain accurate job records, including as-built documentation, materials used, and progress reporting
  • Contribute to project planning, providing input on scope, sequencing, and resourcing
  • Undertake other senior drainlaying or site duties as required by management
