The growing business is looking for experienced machine operators to join the team.
It is a permanent full-time position, based in Auckland, but may require to travel national wide. The role is with 30 hours guaranteed hours of work per week, and up to 50 hours if required. The competitive pay range from $32 to $40 depending on skills and experience.
Key responsibilities:
- Operate machinery/plant in accordance with standard operating procedures
- Perform and complete highly skilled trades/ tasks related to paving, roading and civil construction
- Check machinery and equipment are in good working order and observes good housekeeping practices
- Set up plan and equipment as required and undertake pre-start checks
- Adhere to quality and safe standards and working practices on site
- Ensure work is carried out efficiently to minimise waste
- Review day to day plans to maximise productivity
- Complete the required paperwork and documentation
- Ensure work is completed to the required standards, regulations and compliance requirements
- Ensure machinery/plant is maintained and any repairs required are reported and documented
- Ensure machinery/plant is locked and secure when not in use
- Heavy manual labour as required
- Ensure all tools are in good working order
- Attend the required toolbox meetings
- Being proactive and contribute to the overall effectiveness of the team
- Report any incidents, injuries, near misses, hazards immediately
- Always wearing and utilising the correct safety gear and equipment
- Demonstrate commitment to health and safety
- Any other duties as required
- Taking personal accountability for own development
- Being committed to continuous improvement
About you:
- Minimum 2 years’ relevant work experience
- Hold the relevant Class 4/5 driver licence with WTR endorsement or overseas equivalent
- Ability to follow instructions, drawing plans, procedures, timelines and schedules
- Be able to pass the health assessment including drug and alcohol screening
- Understanding of occupational health and safety practices, risk management and hazard identification
- Self-driven, motivated to succeed to the highest standards
- Ability to work in a team environment
