Key Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret construction drawings, plans, and specifications to determine project requirements.
- Measure, cut, and shape timber and other materials for structural and finishing work.
- Install framing, joists, rafters, and roof structures in line with project specifications.
- Carry out accurate site set-out, levelling, and alignment for structural components.
- Construct and install cabinetry, fittings, doors, windows, and interior trim to a high standard.
- Use hand and power tools safely and efficiently to complete carpentry tasks.
- Perform repairs and maintenance on existing structures as required.
- Follow on-site health and safety procedures and contribute to maintaining a safe work environment.
Key Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Qualified Carpenter in residential and/or commercial construction.
- Strong ability to read and interpret construction plans and technical drawings.
- Demonstrated competence in framing, roofing, and first-fix carpentry.
- Solid experience with finishing work, including doors, windows, interior trim, and cabinetry installation.
- Confident in accurate measuring, cutting, and site set-out.
- Skilled in the safe and efficient use of a wide range of hand and power tools.
- Sound knowledge of the New Zealand Building Code and relevant building standards.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work effectively as part of a site team.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience working on both new builds and renovation projects.
- Familiarity with commercial fit-out work and detailed joinery.
- Ability to identify and resolve minor on-site issues with minimal supervision.
- Exposure to working with a variety of building materials beyond timber.
Qualifications:
- New Zealand trade qualification in carpentry (or equivalent recognised overseas qualification).
- Current Site Safe or equivalent construction safety certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Any additional construction or building-related certifications will be an advantage.
