About the Role

As our Regional Burn Unit Coordinator, you will be responsible for the coordination and management of the procedure room to ensure efficient use of resources to support treatment and flow of patients.

This is a newly created position and requires someone who is up for a challenge and prepared to assist with the daily set up and development of the procedure room to meet demand. This will include working with inventory and distribution, IS, burns multidisciplinary team (MDT), and medical teams from all services.

This could be an opportunity to broaden nursing skills across a variety of different surgical specialities. However, previous surgical experience and specifically burns experience would be advantageous.

Key responsibilities:

  • Daily set up
  • Managing and coordinating appointment bookings
  • Communication with patients and other departments
  • Liaise with medical staff, MDT, burns, nursing teams and health care assistants
  • Full usage of the Regional Burn Unit

About the Team/Service

Our procedure room is an extension of Ward M7 and assists with complex burns dressings and other procedures currently being undertaken on inpatient wards. This could include incision and drainage, change of negative pressure dressings, and other surgical wound dressings, graft checks, BTM checks, and other simple procedures under local sedation.

About you

Our ideal candidate will have very good communication skills, both verbal and written, as you will be frequently liaising with various medical, nursing and health care professionals.

You will also need to be able to demonstrate the following skills, attributes and qualifications:

  • Registration with NZ Nursing Council and current Annual Practicing Certificate
  • At least 5 years experience in an acute hospital setting
  • Team player who is flexible with a positive attitude
  • Ability to effectively coordinate and lead a team to meet patient needs
  • Organised and adaptable
  • Knowledge of centric Interventional Pain Management (IPM)
  • Previous surgical nursing/burn experience
