About the Role
As a Health Records Team Leader, you will lead the day to day operations of the Health Records Service, ensuring patient health information is accurate, secure, accessible, and available when needed. You'll oversee workflow coordination, record tracking, clinic preparation, and service delivery while supporting a team responsible for maintaining the integrity of patient records across the organisation.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced people leader who enjoys balancing operational management with staff development. You'll play a key role in leading a high performing team, driving continuous improvement, maintaining compliance with privacy and health record standards, and ensuring an efficient, reliable service that supports both clinical teams and patients across Hawke's Bay.
About the Team/Service/Location
Our Health Records team is responsible for managing and maintaining patient health information that supports safe, effective healthcare delivery across Health New Zealand Te Matau a Māui Hawke's Bay. We are committed to providing a high quality, responsive service while maintaining the highest standards of confidentiality, accuracy, and customer service.

About You
As a Health Records Team Leader, you will bring:
- Proven leadership experience with the ability to motivate, support, and develop staff.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities in a busy operational environment.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills across clinical, administrative, and multidisciplinary teams.
- A commitment to delivering exceptional customer service and maintaining high standards of accuracy and confidentiality.
- The ability to foster a positive team culture while driving continuous improvement and service excellence.
Desirable:
- Previous administration, clerical, or health records experience.
- Experience using patient management systems such as ECA.
- Experience working within the healthcare sector.
- Knowledge of health information management, privacy requirements, and record management processes.
