Hauraki Civil Limited is an Auckland-based civil construction company providing civil works and project support for residential, commercial and industrial developments. Our work includes earthmoving, drainage, retaining walls, roading and foundation works across the Auckland region.

As our business continues to develop, we are looking for an experienced manager to strengthen our planning, policy, quality and compliance functions and support the effective delivery of our projects.

 

The Role

We are seeking a senior Policy and Planning Manager with a strong background in management, planning, quality, compliance or civil engineering.

The role will involve working with the company directors, project managers, engineers, contractors, consultants and clients to coordinate business and project planning, review operational requirements, maintain quality and compliance standards, and support the company's ongoing development.

This position would suit an experienced professional who combines technical knowledge with strong management, business and stakeholder experience.

 

Key Responsibilities

  1. Develop and coordinate planning and operational strategies for civil construction projects.
  2. Review project requirements, risks, resources, schedules and delivery priorities.
  3. Develop and maintain company policies, procedures and compliance processes.
  4. Monitor quality requirements and support continuous improvement across business operations.
  5. Coordinate with project managers, engineers, contractors, consultants, suppliers and clients.
  6. Review project and operational documentation and identify areas for improvement.
  7. Support the management of regulatory, contractual, quality and compliance matters.
  8. Assist directors with business planning, operational decision-making and risk management.
  9. Manage and coordinate external consultants and service providers where required.
  10. Maintain effective relationships with clients, contractors and other stakeholders.
  11. Support the company's long-term business development and project delivery objectives.

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Planning, Business, Quality Management or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in management, civil engineering, quality management, compliance, planning or business operations.
  • Strong experience in managing business operations and coordinating multiple stakeholders.
  • Knowledge or experience in quality systems, certification, compliance or process improvement.
  • Strong planning, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication, reporting and stakeholder management skills.
  • Civil construction or infrastructure experience is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with New Zealand planning, consenting and regulatory requirements would be an advantage.
  • Must have the legal right to work in New Zealand.
