Remuneration: NZD $30.00–$32.00 per hour

Hours: Minimum 30 hours per week. Additional hours may be required depending on workload and weather conditions. Maximum 48 hours per week.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Preparing and maintaining seedbeds and growing sites to promote healthy plant growth.

• Propagating and planting trees, shrubs, hedges, flowers, and bulbs to enhance landscape presentation.

• Preparing lawn areas by spreading topsoil, planting grass, and laying instant turf.

• Maintaining landscaped and grassed areas through weeding, trimming, fertilising, watering, and mowing.

• Pruning trees and hedges, installing plant supports, and protecting plants from pests and environmental damage.

• Developing work plans, selecting appropriate materials and plants, and scheduling tasks efficiently.

• Installing hardscape elements such as paths and patios, as well as softscape features including soil beds and planting areas.

• Examining trees to assess their health, identify problems, and determine suitable treatment methods.

• Pruning limbs and shaping branches using chainsaws and hand tools in accordance with health and safety requirements.

• Applying insecticides, fungicides, and other appropriate treatments to control pests and diseases.

• Felling diseased, damaged, or unsafe trees while strictly following health and safety procedures.

• Mentoring and providing practical guidance to gardening labourers on gardening techniques, safe work practices, use of tools and equipment, and completion of assigned tasks to the required standard.

Requirements

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

• Hold a full New Zealand Driver Licence or overseas equivalent

• Experience in towing trailers, including loading and unloading is preferred however not mandatory.

• Have good physical fitness and the ability to undertake manual labour and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

• Be available to work weekends and public holidays when required.

• Be willing to undergo pre-employment checks, including medical assessment, drug testing, and police vetting, if required.

• Be reliable, punctual, and willing to work extended hours where operationally necessary.

• Have a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

• Have their own reliable transport to travel to various work sites where required.

• Have a sales-focused mindset, with the ability to identify client needs, recommend suitable gardening or landscaping solutions, and contribute to business growth through professional client engagement.

• Provide two work-related references.
