We are looking to recruit one Store Manager to oversee the shop's daily operation. The position is full-time permanent with a guarantee of at least 30 hours (or more) per week.
Hours of work will be on a roster for a minimum of 30 hours per week. Work hours are usually between 7:30 am to 5:30 pm Monday to Friday. Hours may occasionally need to be adjusted subject to operation needs. The pay rate will be NZD 35 per hour.
Duties will include:
- Manage the range of seafood products and fish & chips offerings to meet customer expectations for freshness, quality, and variety.
- Keep track of stock levels, place orders with suppliers, and ensure both the retail counter and kitchen are well supplied.
- Maintain clear and accurate records of sales, inventory, and daily store operations.
- Present products attractively and make sure displays and signage are up to date and appealing.
- Work with suppliers to get the best pricing and set fair, competitive prices for fresh seafood and cooked meals.
- Run in-store promotions and local marketing activities to grow sales and attract repeat customers.
- Support customers with product knowledge, cooking advice, and ensure they receive friendly and efficient service.
- Deal with customer concerns quickly and professionally to maintain positive relationships.
- Monitor sales performance, manage costs, and work to keep the store profitable.
- Hire and train staff, build a positive team culture, and make sure shifts are covered with effective rostering.
- Guide staff on service standards and provide regular feedback to improve performance.
- Ensure food safety and hygiene standards are always met, including safe handling of seafood and operation of cooking equipment.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for both customers and staff
Position expectations:
- Minimum two years of relevant work experience
- Tertiary qualification is an advantage but not essential
- Lead by example, motivate staff, set standards, and create a positive team culture
- Adapt to unexpected challenges, such as staff shortages, customer complaints, or supply issues, while keeping operations on track.
