To lead and supervise demolition and asbestos removal projects, ensuring works are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule and to the highest quality standard. The Demolition & Asbestos Supervisor is responsible for coordinating site activities, leading site teams, maintaining effective communication with clients and management, and ensuring all work complies with company policies, legislative requirements, project documentation and industry best practice.

- This position involves regular travel to various project sites in Auckland, Bay of Plenty, Northland, and Waikato, as determined by operational demands. Applicants must be willing and able to travel as part of their role.
Key Responsibilities
Site Supervision & Leadership:
- Lead and supervise demolition and asbestos removal teams across multiple project types.
- Plan, coordinate and oversee daily site activities to ensure works are completed safely, efficiently and within programme.
- Lead by example through professionalism, safe work practices and positive leadership.
- Mentor, train and develop team members, ensuring employees understand company expectations and work to Henderson Demolition standards.
- Conduct daily pre-start meetings, toolbox talks and site briefings.
- Ensure all personnel understand their roles, responsibilities and project-specific requirements before commencing work.
- Monitor staff performance and address any safety, quality or behavioural concerns promptly.
Demolition & Asbestos Operations:
- Supervise all demolition and asbestos removal activities in accordance with approved methodologies.
- Ensure works are completed in accordance with Asbestos Removal Control Plans (ARCPs), Asbestos Management Plans (AMPs), Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS), Site-Specific Safety Plans (SSSPs) and all project documentation.
- Monitor demolition sequencing and asbestos removal methods to ensure safe and efficient project delivery.
- Coordinate asbestos assessors, air monitoring and clearance inspections where required.
- Ensure containment systems, decontamination units, negative pressure units and asbestos control measures are correctly maintained and used.
- Supervise waste segregation, recycling and lawful disposal of demolition and asbestos waste.
- Assist with hands-on demolition and asbestos removal work where operationally required.
Communication:
- Maintain regular communication with the Operations Manager and Project Manager regarding programme, staffing requirements, site progress, risks and variations.
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients, consultants, subcontractors and Schedule 2 Position Description inspectors on site.
- Communicate clear instructions to all workers and subcontractors.
- Immediately escalate safety concerns, incidents, delays, scope changes or client issues to management.
- Foster a positive, respectful and professional working environment.
- Ensure all site personnel receive daily updates regarding hazards, work sequencing and operational changes.
Compliance:

Planning & Project Delivery:
- Review project documentation before work commences and identify risks, constraints and resource requirements.
- Coordinate deliveries, waste removal, subcontractors and plant movements.
- Monitor project progress against the programme and proactively resolve issues.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency while maintaining safety and quality.
- Assist with project handovers and close-out documentation.
Administration:
- Complete daily site records accurately and on time.
- Ensure timesheets, equipment hours and material records are completed correctly.
- Maintain site diaries detailing work completed, labour, visitors, weather delays and significant events.
- Report incidents, near misses, hazards and property damage immediately.
- Complete inspection records, pre-start checklists, toolbox records and other company documentation.
- Record variations and notify management of potential cost impacts.
Healthy & Safety Compliance
- Champion a positive health and safety culture across all projects.
- Ensure all personnel wear and correctly use the required personal protective equipment (PPE) and respiratory protective equipment (RPE)
- Stop any unsafe work immediately and implement corrective actions.
- Carry out regular site inspections and safety observations.
- Ensure emergency procedures are understood and practiced.
- Participate in incident investigations and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure environmental controls relating to dust, noise, vibration, waste, sediment and asbestos fibres are maintained.
- Promote continuous improvement across safety, environmental and quality systems.
- Ensure all work meets Henderson Demolition's quality standards before completion.
