About the role

We are seeking a Front End Web Developer – Shopify to join our team in Auckland. This is a full-time permanent role for someone with strong web development skills and experience working with Shopify-based websites and e-commerce solutions.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, customising, maintaining, and improving Shopify websites for a range of client projects. The role requires someone who can work independently, manage competing priorities, and deliver clean, reliable, and efficient web-based solutions.

Key responsibilities

•               Develop, customise, and maintain Shopify-based websites and web functionality using Liquid, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and related web technologies

•               Build responsive, user-friendly, and high-performing website interfaces to meet client and business requirements

•               Implement and maintain custom features, web components, and e-commerce functionality within Shopify

•               Assist with the development and integration of Shopify apps, extensions, and third-party tools where required

•               Translate technical requirements and design concepts into clean, efficient, and production-ready code

•               Test, debug, troubleshoot, and optimise websites for performance, usability, accessibility, and browser compatibility

•               Monitor website functionality and resolve technical issues in a timely manner

•               Work across multiple client web development projects simultaneously and manage project priorities effectively

•               Collaborate with internal team members on technical solutions and project delivery

•               Provide support and guidance to junior developers where required

Skills and experience required

Applicants must have either:

•               at least 3 years of relevant work experience in web development, preferably including Shopify or e-commerce website development; 

or

•               a relevant Bachelor’s degree or higher qualification

Applicants should also demonstrate:

•               strong practical experience with Shopify development

•               solid knowledge of Liquid, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript

•               experience developing and maintaining websites and web-based functionality

•               understanding of responsive design, website performance, and usability principles

•               ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines

•               strong problem-solving and communication skills

Employment details

•               Salary range: NZD $80,000 to $100,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience

•               Hours of work: Monday to Friday, generally 9:00 am to 6:00 pm, depending on project requirements and workload

•               Minimum guaranteed hours: 40 hours per week
