We’re working with an established Southland civil contractor looking for a Bid Writer to take a key role in the preparation and coordination of tenders across its civil construction operations.
The role
You’ll be involved across the tender process, balancing multiple submissions and deadlines while ensuring each bid is accurate, commercially sound and tailored to the client.
Key responsibilities will include:
You don’t necessarily need to have spent your entire career writing bids, but you will need to be comfortable working with technical information, deadlines and multiple stakeholders.

You’ll join an established civil business with a strong presence across Southland and work closely with the people responsible for pricing, delivering and commercially managing its projects.

- Writing clear, persuasive and well-structured tender responses
- Coordinating multiple bids, contributors and competing deadlines
- Working with estimating, operations and commercial teams to bring together pricing, methodology, risk and compliance information
- Supporting client submissions, clarifications and negotiations throughout the tender process
- Reviewing previous bid outcomes and applying lessons learned to strengthen future submissions
You don’t necessarily need to have spent your entire career writing bids, but you will need to be comfortable working with technical information, deadlines and multiple stakeholders.
Ideally, you’ll bring:
- Experience coordinating or managing multiple bids, tenders or proposals
- Strong written communication skills and the ability to turn technical information into compelling content
- Good commercial judgement and an understanding of what makes a strong tender submission
- Confidence working with internal stakeholders and contributing to client discussions
- Civil construction, infrastructure or a related technical industry background
- Strong MS Office skills; Power BI or estimating software exposure would be useful but isn’t essential
