Lead the HIP and Health Coach model across South Canterbury

Project Lead - HIP & Health Coach Lead

Health New Zealand | South Canterbury is seeking an experienced and motivated health professional to lead the reset and revitalisation of our Health Improvement Practitioner (HIP) and Health Coach model.

This unique fixed-term opportunity will provide strategic and clinical leadership to strengthen the integration of the Health Improvement Practitioner (HIP) and Health Coach model across South Canterbury. Working alongside Health Coaches, primary care teams and key stakeholders, you will focus on embedding sustainable practice, improving service delivery, championing health equity and supporting positive outcomes for our communities. Based on the principles of Te Tumu Waiora, the role supports the delivery of holistic, accessible support within primary care settings.

Rather than providing day-to-day line management, this role is focused on project leadership, stakeholder engagement, quality improvement and change management. You will work collaboratively across primary and secondary care to support the successful integration and long-term sustainability of the HIP and Health Coach model.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in health, exercise science, physiotherapy, health promotion, nursing, social work or a related field
  • Experience leading, coaching or mentoring teams within a health, wellbeing or community setting
  • Experience working within, or alongside, health services
  • A sound understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its application in health service delivery
  • A demonstrated commitment to health equity and culturally responsive practice
  • Experience leading quality improvement initiatives and service development
  • Strong relationship-building and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Excellent communication and change leadership skills
  • A current New Zealand Driver Licence.
