Lead procurement projects from planning through contract award across multiple categories

Procurement Business Partner

Hato Hone St John has been serving New Zealanders since 1885. Today, our 11,000-strong team of kaimahi and volunteer works across Aotearoa to enhance the health and wellbeing of our communities. From responding to 111 calls to supporting people to stay healthy through our mahi in health education, access, and monitoring, we are making life-changing differences every day.

As a Procurement Business Partner, you'll build trusted relationships across the organisation and act as a key link between procurement and the business. Working closely with stakeholders, you'll take the time to understand their objectives, translate business needs into practical procurement solutions, and lead sourcing activities that deliver commercial value, manage risk, and support organisational outcomes. You'll play an important role in embedding best-practice procurement while helping teams achieve their goals in a fast paced and operationally critical environment.

In this role, you will:

  • Build strong relationships across the organisation, becoming a trusted advisor who helps teams make informed commercial decisions and achieve their objectives.
  • Lead end-to-end sourcing and procurement initiatives across a diverse range of categories, balancing commercial outcomes, risk management, and organisational priorities.
  • Identify and deliver commercial opportunities that generate measurable savings, cost avoidance, service improvements, or broader business value.
  • Partner closely with stakeholders to understand business needs, challenge thinking constructively, and identify opportunities to maximise value.
  • Drive the implementation of procurement best practice and contribute to the successful delivery of our Procurement Strategy.
  • Use spend insights, market intelligence, and data-driven analysis to uncover opportunities and support robust decision-making.
  • Champion a value-focused approach to procurement that improves efficiency, strengthens supplier outcomes, and supports organisational sustainability goals.
  • Support contract and supplier management activities to ensure suppliers deliver against expectations and organisational objectives.

This opportunity is ideal for a procurement professional who can confidently lead procurement activity from planning through to contract award, build strong stakeholder relationships, and deliver meaningful commercial value in a fast-paced, operationally critical environment. While you'll need the experience to operate independently, you'll also have the opportunity to continue growing your procurement capability within a supportive and purpose-driven team.

You'll be part of a nationwide organisation with a diverse operational footprint, offering exposure to a breadth of stakeholders and challenges that will stretch and develop your procurement capability.

At Hato Hone St John we offer meaningful flexibility with a hybrid working environment, supportive leadership and an engaged, collaborative culture. The role can be based from our offices in Auckland, Christchurch or Hamilton.

To help us assess your suitability for this role, please include a cover letter outlining how your experience aligns with the key requirements. We encourage you to provide examples of your stakeholder engagement, procurement delivery, and the commercial value or outcomes you have achieved.
