Commercial Refrigeration & HVAC-R Service technician

Total Refrigeration Ltd, a leading New Zealand-owned company, is expanding its operations in North Shore City, Auckland, New Zealand. We specialize in providing high-quality refrigeration and air-conditioning services across both commercial and marine sectors. We are looking for a skilled Commercial Refrigeration & HVAC-R Service Technician who is adept at handling complex installations, service and maintenance tasks, while also delivering exceptional customer service. The ideal candidate will bring technical expertise, a commitment to safety, and a passion for continuous learning in a dynamic work environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, commission, and maintain commercial and marine refrigeration systems.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot system faults, ensuring quick resolution to minimize downtime.
• Perform preventive maintenance on chilled water plants and HVAC-R control systems.
• Conduct pressure testing, leak detection, and system evacuation as needed.
• Participate in the on-call roster, providing after-hours support as required.

Qualifications & Experience

• Trade-qualified Refrigeration Technician with a minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience.
• Possess a current Limited Electrical Registration.
• Full NZ driver’s licence is required for travel to various job sites.
• Experience with chilled water systems, particularly large screw compressor plants.
• Marine refrigeration and air-conditioning experience is a significant advantage.

• Proficient in using HVAC-R diagnostic tools and equipment.
• Knowledge of electrical controls, wiring, and troubleshooting techniques.
• Experience with pressure testing and leak detection equipment.
• Understanding of building management systems (BMS) for HVAC integration would be an advantage.

Salary

The hourly rate for this position ranges from $45 to $60, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
