Rubani Holdings Limited is seeking one permanent, full-time driver for its swinglift-equipped Class 5 truck and trailer. The Auckland-based role covers 20-foot and 40-foot container movements and other freight, mainly in Auckland and the Upper North Island, with occasional longer-distance runs as allocated.
Pay and Hours
$52.50 per hour for all hours worked. Minimum 32 guaranted hours and up to 40 hours per week, Monday to Saturday, on floating shifts between 4:30am to 3:30pm, subject to route riquirements. Opretional needs and legal work-time and rest-time requirements. These paid hours include driving, coordination and record-keeping.
The Role
- Collect and deliver containers and other freight between port, depot and customer sites. Driving is the predominant duty.
• Operate the swinglift equipment safely to load and unload containers, following training, equipment limits and safe site procedures.
• Complete vehicle and equipment checks, secure loads, comply with road and work-time requirements, and report defects, incidents and hazards.
• Transport dangerous goods as required, meeting applicable safe handling, segregation, load security, documentation and placarding requirements.
• Coordinate collection and delivery arrangements and the assigned truck’s daily work within management priorities. Keep customers informed of arrival times and delays, and coordinate approved servicing.
• Check freight documents, maintain accurate run sheets and proof of delivery, record waiting time, and pass complete job records to accounts for invoicing.
What you need
- At least two years’ relevant work experience in transport, freight, logistics or warehouse operations. Your experience must include following operational instructions, checking freight or goods documentation, maintaining accurate records, and communicating with supervisors, customers or other operational contacts.
• A current full New Zealand Class 5 driver licence, or a current full New Zealand Class 4 driver licence and the ability to readily obtain a full Class 5 licence before starting the role.
• A current dangerous goods (D) endorsement, or the ability to readily obtain it before starting the role.
• A good understanding of New Zealand road rules, heavy vehicle safety, load restraint, vehicle checks, fatigue management and work-time and rest-time requirements.
• The ability to organise allocated work, follow freight instructions, check documents and maintain accurate operational records, and to communicate professionally with management, customers, port and depot staff, and accounts.
• Reliability, punctuality and availability for early starts and floating shifts between Monday and Saturday, with the ability to travel to and from the Auckland work base and allocated work locations.
• The physical ability to assist with loading, unloading, securing and handling goods as required, and the ability to pass checks reasonably required for a safety-sensitive driving role.
Rubani will provide induction in its port and booking arrangements, freight documentation, reporting procedures and company systems. You must have the required licence and endorsement before starting the role. Appropriate training and demonstrated competence in safe operation of the assigned vehicle and swinglift equipment are required before unsupervised operation.
