House of Jake, located in Northland, Wellington, is a well-established local pet grooming and daycare business. With a growing number of customers and increasing demand for our services, we are now looking for two Pet Groomers to join our friendly team and support our expanding bookings and daily operations.

Key Tasks:

  • Groom pets according to customers’ requests and appropriate breed standards.
  • Bathe, shampoo, dry, brush and comb pets to maintain their cleanliness and coat condition.
  • Clip, trim and style pets’ coats using appropriate grooming tools and equipment.
  • Perform nail trimming, ear cleaning and other basic grooming care as required.
  • Check pets’ skin, coat and general condition and advise owners of any noticeable concerns.
  • Handle and restrain pets safely and appropriately throughout the grooming process.
  • Discuss grooming requirements with customers and provide advice on suitable grooming services.
  • Promote, recommend and sell suitable pet care and grooming products available in store based on customers’ and pets’ needs.
  • Clean and sanitise grooming tools, equipment and work areas after use.
  • Maintain a clean, safe and hygienic grooming environment.
  • Assist with the general care and supervision of pets when required.

The success candidates must have:

  • At least 1 year of relevant work experience, or a Level 2 or higher relevant qualification in pet grooming, animal care or a related field.
  • Applicants holding a Bachelor’s degree in another field may also be considered if they do not have relevant qualifications or work experience. However, they must demonstrate basic knowledge of pet grooming and pet care, and be able to recognise and understand the behaviour, temperament and care needs of different pets.
