About the Role
CEDAR CONSTRUCTION LIMITED is a reputable Auckland-based construction and renovation firm. We are currently seeking a reliable, skilled, and dedicated Floor Finisher to join our team on a full-time, permanent basis. This role involves carrying out sub-floor preparation, precision cutting, installation, finishing, and restoration of timber, engineered, and laminate flooring across our residential renovation and alteration projects.
Key Tasks, Duties & Responsibilities

● Examine renovation plans and site layouts to measure floor surfaces, calculate required materials, and mark installation guidelines.

● Remove deteriorated floor coverings, inspect timber/concrete sub-floors, and apply primers, moisture barriers, and self-levelling compounds to establish a flat, sound base.

● Measure, cut, shape, and join timber floorboards, engineered planks, laminates, and transition trims to fit accurately around door frames, pipes, and borders.

● Lay and secure flooring materials using glue-down, nail-down, or interlocking floating systems, ensuring correct alignment and expansion gaps.

● Operate drum and edge sanding machines to level joints and remove surface imperfections, finishing corners and recesses by hand scraping and sanding.

● Apply stains, sealants, polyurethane coats, and protective finishes to achieve specified colour and durability, and carry out remedial repairs on damaged timber floors.

● Inspect completed installations for smoothness, levelness, adhesion, and joint tightness before handover.
Minimum Skills, Experience & Qualifications

● Minimum of 3 years of verifiable hands-on practical experience in flooring
installation or floor finishing.

● A relevant qualification or recognised competency training certificate is preferred.
