About the Role

The Construction Site Foreman will supervise and coordinate day-to-day residential construction activities and work closely with carpenters, subcontractors, suppliers and management to ensure projects progress safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate daily residential construction activities.
  • Coordinate carpenters, subcontractors and other trades on site.
  • Read and interpret architectural drawings, plans and specifications.
  • Monitor construction progress, sequencing and site requirements.
  • Coordinate construction materials, equipment and deliveries.
  • Monitor workmanship and construction quality.
  • Coordinate different trades and resolve routine site issues.
  • Ensure construction work follows approved plans and relevant New Zealand requirements.
  • Monitor health and safety practices on site.
  • Communicate with management, subcontractors, suppliers and other trades.
  • Coordinate work required for building inspections.
  • Maintain site and construction records.
  • Assist management with construction planning and project coordination.
  • Maintain a clean, organised and safe work environment.

Guaranteed hours of work per week: Minimum 30 hours, permanent full-time

Requirements for the job:

  • At least 2 years' relevant residential construction experience. Experience in carpentry, residential construction, site coordination or construction supervision is relevant to this position. Experience supervising workers or coordinating subcontractors is preferred.
  • Good knowledge of residential construction methods and sequencing.
  • Ability to read and understand building plans and specifications.
  • Ability to coordinate workers, subcontractors and trades.
  • Good understanding of construction health and safety requirements.
  • Good communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to identify and resolve routine construction issues.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • A relevant building or construction qualification is preferred but not essential where the applicant has the required relevant experience..
  • Applicants need to be NZ citizens/residents or have a valid NZ work visa.
