About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Earthwork Truck Driver to join our civil and earthworks team. The role involves operating tipper trucks on our development sites to transport and deliver metal (aggregate), cart and tip soil and fill, and work closely with excavator operators to keep earthworks moving safely and efficiently. The driver will also be responsible for keeping accurate logbook records and carrying out daily checks and routine maintenance on the truck.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely operate tipper trucks and truck-and-trailer units on construction sites and public roads.
• Load, transport and deliver metal/aggregate (e.g. GAP, AP, drainage metal) to designated site locations as instructed.
• Cart and tip soil, clay, fill and excavated material to stockpiles, fill areas or approved disposal/cleanfill sites.
• Work closely with excavator and loader operators during loading, ensuring correct positioning, safe loading and efficient cycle times.
• Spread and place material by controlled tipping in line with site instructions, levels and compaction requirements.
• Accurately complete and maintain the driver logbook (work time, rest breaks, trips and loads), delivery dockets and tip receipts.
• Carry out daily pre-start and post-trip vehicle checks (tyres, brakes, lights, hydraulics, fluids and tipping body) and record findings.
• Perform routine truck maintenance such as greasing, washing, topping up fluids and minor servicing; report defects promptly.
• Keep loads secure and covered where required, and ensure vehicles are clean before leaving site to prevent debris on public roads.
• Follow site traffic management plans, spotter/banksman directions and all health & safety procedures.
• Communicate effectively with site supervisors and the wider team to plan daily cartage and meet project timelines.

Minimum Skills, Experience and Qualifications

• NZ Class 4 driver licence with WTR endorsement (or overseas equivalent) .
• At least 2 years’ relevant work experience as a truck driver, preferably in earthworks, civil construction or quarry cartage.
• Good understanding of logbook requirements, vehicle safety checks and basic truck maintenance.
• Good physical fitness and willingness to work outdoors in all conditions.
• A commitment to health and safety; able to follow site procedures, traffic management plans and instructions.
Desirable (nice to have): Site Safe passport, First Aid certificate, experience with truck-and-trailer units.

Terms and Conditions

  • Employment Type: Full-time, permanent

  • Guaranteed Hours: Minimum 30 hours per week

  • Pay Hourly rate: NZD $30 – $35 per hour (based on skills and experience)

  • Work Location: Our office is based at Flat Bush, Auckland, with work across construction sites in Greater Auckland.
