careerflow limited T/A NewZealand skills connect provides OSCE preparation training for internationally qualified nurses working towards Nursing Council of New Zealand registration. We are seeking an OSCE Clinical Skills Tutor to plan and deliver our OSCE preparation programme, both online and in our clinical skills lab based in christchurch. This is a permanent, full-time position with a minimum of 32 guaranteed hours per week,

As OSCE Clinical Skills Tutor you will be responsible for preparing candidates to meet the Nursing Council of New Zealand OSCE standard. Your key tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Planning and developing programmes of study for individual students and small groups preparing for the NCNZ OSCE, and adapting each programme to the individual student's level.
  • Preparing and delivering online theory sessions covering the OSCE syllabus, New Zealand nursing practice standards and the requirements of each station.
  • Instructing and demonstrating the practical clinical skills assessed in the OSCE, using the equipment, documentation and protocols used in the examination.
  • Conducting one-to-one mock OSCE examinations in the skills lab and assessing student performance against the published marking criteria.
  • Providing individual feedback, advice and encouragement to students, and delivering remedial coaching where a student does not meet the required standard.
  • Reviewing and revising course content, teaching materials, station scenarios and assessment resources as the syllabus and practice standards change.
  • Recording student attendance, progress and mock examination results and reporting on outcomes to management.
  • Maintaining the clinical skills lab, its equipment and consumables, and ensuring safe practice during practical sessions

Requirements of the position offered:

  1. A bachelor degree or higher qualification in nursing.
  2. minimum of two years of Relevant experience in teaching, tutoring or clinically supervising, clinically co ordinating nurses or nursing students.
  3. A practical working knowledge of the current NCNZ OSCE assessment framework and station format.
  4. Current registration as a nurse in New Zealand through the current OSCE registration frame work..
  5. Ability to work Wednesday to Sunday, including evenings as required.
  6. Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
