To support the next stage of the company's growth across enterprise ICT, cloud, cybersecurity, intelligent building and AI-enabled surveillance offerings, Unicom New Zealand is now recruiting an experienced Chief Information Officer to lead the group's technology strategy, internal ICT operations and enterprise solution capability.

Job Summary

The Chief Information Officer is responsible for developing and implementing Unicom New
Zealand’s overall information technology strategy. The role focuses on enterprise networking, cloud computing, data centres, storage, cybersecurity, AI video analytics and managed IT services.

Key Responsibilities

1. Develop and implement the company’s long-term IT strategy, digital transformation roadmap and annual technology budget.
2. Oversee cloud platforms, data centre infrastructure, servers, storage, virtualisation, backup and disaster recovery systems.
3. Establish the company’s cybersecurity strategy, including data protection, access control, risk assessment, compliance and incident response.
4. Lead the integration of CCTV, IoT, cloud platforms, AI video analytics, telecommunications and intelligent building systems.
5. Develop enterprise ICT solutions for clients across the financial, aviation, healthcare, education, government, energy and large commercial sectors.
6. Lead and coordinate network engineers, system administrators, technical support staff and project delivery teams.
7. Participate in major project solution design, technical reviews, tenders, client presentations and pre-sales activities.
8. Manage strategic relationships with technology vendors, cloud providers, distributors and other business partners.
9. Evaluate emerging technologies and investment opportunities, including private cloud, hybrid cloud, AI and software-defined data centres.
10. Report regularly to the Managing Director on IT operations, cybersecurity, project risks,
technology investment and digital development.

Job requirement: applicant must meet following requirement to apply for this job

The successful candidate must have:

· A relevant tertiary qualification (Bachelor's degree or higher) in computer science, information technology, telecommunications, electronic engineering, software engineering, information systems or a closely related discipline; or
· At least 5 years of senior ICT management, ICT leadership or comparable technology-leadership experience covering enterprise infrastructure, cloud, data centre, storage, networking, cybersecurity or managed technology services.

The successful candidate should also have:

· An extended track record working in senior roles across the enterprise ICT industry, with
demonstrable exposure to a broad range of infrastructure platforms including servers, enterprise storage, hyperconverged infrastructure, network security, cloud and unified communications.
· Working knowledge of, and prior professional engagement with, technology platforms from established tier-one enterprise ICT vendors
· Proven experience leading multi-disciplinary technical, commercial or delivery teams at a regional-manager, general-manager or equivalent level, including scaling teams, setting individual performance targets, conducting performance reviews and building high-performing organisations.
· Demonstrable experience delivering enterprise ICT solutions into customers in regulated or
infrastructure-heavy sectors — such as banking and financial services, energy and utilities,
government, telecommunications or large corporate customers.
· Ability to lead solution design, respond to enterprise tenders and represent the company at senior technical review, architecture assessment and pre-sales presentation with enterprise prospects.
· Experience managing technology and operational budgets, exercising P&L accountability at business-unit level, controlling expense within an approved framework, and negotiating commercial terms with vendors and channel partners.
· Track record of reporting to executive leadership on operational performance, risk, project
delivery and technology investment.
· Excellent verbal and written English communication is essential.
