Building Designer

About the Role

As a Building Designer, you will be responsible for developing building concepts, design solutions and detailed documentation for new buildings, renovations and extensions. 

Key Responsibilities

• Consults with builders, clients and consultants to understand design requirements and gather feedback on building designs
•  Prepares initial design models for engineering and estimation purposes using BIM
• Takes measurements and dimensions, and performs other routine calculations for building or renovation design layouts
•  Provides design recommendations to clients based on factors such as budget, building site constraints, and overall feasibility
• Produces architectural documentation for sketch design and to support applications to councils
•  Prepares building designs, models, concepts and estimations using CAD, 3D modelling and BIM software
•  Ensures building, renovation and extension designs comply with regulations and standards, and client, certifier and consultant requirements

Skills and Experience

• Bachelor of planning, building design, architect OR at least 3 years work experience
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation
• Good communication skills and ability to work with clients, consultants, builders and other project stakeholders.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet agreed deadlines.

Working Place, hours, Wages level and other benefit

•  Work in Albany, Auckland
•  Standard Hours: 30-45 hours per week
•  including weekends, if our schedule requires.
• Remuneration: NZD $30-35 per hour
