We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Telecom Technician – Team Member to join our team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, connect, maintain and repair fibre-optic and other telecommunications cables and equipment in accordance with work instructions and technical requirements.

  • Read telecommunications plans, drawings and specifications to identify cable routes, equipment locations and required connections.

  • Install underground telecommunications infrastructure, including ducts, conduits, cable routes and telecommunications cabling.

  • Pull, route, connect and secure fibre-optic and telecommunications cables through ducts, conduits and other designated cable routes.

  • Terminate and connect telecommunications cables and equipment using appropriate tools and approved installation procedures.

  • Test telecommunications cables, connections and equipment using appropriate testing instruments and identify faults or connection issues.

  • Carry out basic fault-finding and diagnose problems in telecommunications cables, connections and equipment, referring complex faults to senior technicians where required.

  • Repair or replace faulty cables, connections, components and telecommunications equipment in accordance with technical instructions and company procedures.

  • Install and connect telecommunications and data transmission equipment at residential, commercial and network sites.

  • Check completed installations and connections to ensure telecommunications equipment and cabling are operating correctly.

  • Use telecommunications testing equipment, hand tools and power tools safely and correctly when carrying out installation, testing, maintenance and repair work.

  • Record installation work, testing results, identified faults and repairs as required by company procedures.

  • Maintain a clean and safe worksite and follow all health and safety requirements when working around underground services, telecommunications infrastructure and equipment.

  • Work as part of a telecommunications field team and follow technical guidance from senior technicians or supervisors when undertaking unfamiliar or complex work.

  • Relevant work experience or relevant qualification preferred .

  • Good communication and teamwork skills.

  • Physically fit and able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.

  • Reliable, punctual and willing to learn.

  • Health and safety awareness.

  • The ability to pass any required background, drug or alcohol checks.
