We are seeking an qualified Motor Mechanic (General) to join our automotive workshop in Auckland.

The successful candidate will be responsible for servicing, diagnosing, repairing and maintaining a range of passenger vehicles and light commercial vehicles. This role requires strong practical automotive knowledge, attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship and workplace safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out scheduled vehicle servicing and routine maintenance.
  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using appropriate diagnostic equipment.
  • Inspect engines, transmissions, braking systems, steering and suspension components.
  • Repair and replace faulty mechanical components.
  • Carry out brake, clutch, cooling-system and exhaust-system repairs.
  • Perform engine and drivetrain repairs and maintenance.
  • Conduct vehicle inspections and identify safety and mechanical issues.
  • Use workshop tools, equipment and diagnostic technology safely and correctly.
  • Complete repair documentation and service records.
  • Test-drive vehicles where required to confirm repairs.
  • Maintain a clean, safe and organised workshop.
  • Follow manufacturer specifications, workshop procedures and health and safety requirements.
  • Communicate with workshop management and customers regarding vehicle faults and required repairs.

Requirements

  • Relevant Level 4 or higher qualification in automotive or mechanical engineering or an equivalent recognised qualification.
  • Sound knowledge and practical understanding of automotive mechanical systems.
  • Ability to use automotive diagnostic equipment to identify mechanical and electrical faults.
  • Good understanding of vehicle safety requirements, workshop procedures and health and safety practices.
  • Ability to read and follow manufacturer specifications, technical information and repair procedures.
  • Current New Zealand driver's licence is desirable and may be required where driving customer vehicles is part of the role.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a workshop team.
  • Good communication skills and a professional approach when dealing with management, colleagues and customers.
  • Strong commitment to quality workmanship, safety and customer service.
