About the Role

As a Registered Nurse Police Liaison Service, you will provide specialist mental health and addiction assessments, interventions, and support for people referred through Police, Emergency Departments, Justice services, and other referral pathways. Working within a dynamic and fast paced environment, you will deliver urgent clinical advice, coordinate care, and help people access the most appropriate treatment and support services.

This is a varied and rewarding role where no two days are the same. You will work closely with Police, health professionals, community agencies, and whānau to improve outcomes for people experiencing mental health and alcohol and drug related issues. The role offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact, strengthen community partnerships, and support some of the region's most vulnerable individuals.

About the Team/Service/Location

Our Mental Health Police Liaison Service works collaboratively with Police, emergency services, hospital teams, and community providers to support people experiencing mental health and addiction challenges. The service focuses on improving access to care, providing timely intervention, and ensuring people receive the support they need when they need it most.

Based in Hastings, you will join a dedicated and experienced team committed to delivering person centred, culturally responsive care through a strong Whānau Ora approach.

About You

As a Registered Nurse Police Liaison Service, you will bring strong mental health and addiction experience, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to achieving positive outcomes for people and their whānau.

  • Current registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand and a current Annual Practising Certificate
  • Extensive experience in mental health and addiction nursing, ideally five years or more
  • Experience applying Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles and delivering culturally responsive care
  • Strong relationship building skills and the ability to work collaboratively with Police, health, and community agencies
  • Commitment to professional development and attainment of a Proficient Professional Development Recognition Programme portfolio or higher
  • Full current driver licence
  • Excellent assessment, problem solving, and communication skills
