RESTAURANT MANAGER – PERMANENT FULL TIME

$32–$35 per hour | Guaranteed 32–40 hours per week

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Restaurant Manager to join our team at Idly Sambar, our South Indian dine-in bar and restaurant located in the heart of Kingsland.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced hospitality professional who is confident leading a small team and maintaining high standards across customer service, restaurant operations and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day operations of the restaurant and bar

• Lead, supervise and support a small front-of-house team

• Prepare staff rosters and coordinate daily shifts

• Maintain high standards of customer service and guest experience

• Oversee opening and closing procedures

• Ensure compliance with liquor licensing, food safety and workplace procedures

• Manage customer enquiries, feedback and complaints professionally

• Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering and inventory control

• Work closely with kitchen staff and management to ensure smooth service

• Help maintain a positive, professional and efficient team environment

What We’re Looking For

The successful candidate must:

• Have at least 3 years of restaurant/hospitality experience

• Hold a current Duty Manager Certificate

• Hold an LCQ (Licence Controller Qualification)

• Have at least a Level 7 qualification in Management

• Be able to communicate fluently and confidently in English

• Have demonstrated ability to manage and motivate a small team

• Be reliable, organised and capable of working independently

• Be available to work weekdays, weekends and late-night shifts on a rotating roster

• Have a strong understanding of customer service and restaurant operations

• A full or restricted New Zealand Driver Licence would be an advantage
