About the Role

FIT for Symptomatic helps people with bowel symptoms get the right care sooner, using a simple home test to help identify those who may need further investigation.

This is an administration role with a difference. Alongside managing referrals, patient information and tracking systems, you will have regular telephone contact with patients, helping them understand what happens next and supporting them to stay engaged with their healthcare journey.

Your work will contribute directly to improving patient participation, timely access to care and equitable health outcomes across the region.

As a Regional Administrator, you will:

  • Manage referrals, patient records and tracking systems accurately and efficiently
  • Support the coordination and management of regional colonoscopy waitlists
  • Proactively contact patients to explain processes, answer questions and support participation
  • Record and monitor patient progress and outcomes
  • Work closely with clinical and administrative teams across the region
  • Help identify and address administrative barriers that may prevent patients from accessing care
  • Contribute to equitable access and positive healthcare experiences for patients and whānau.

We are recruiting for three fixed-term positions until June 2027, working Monday to Friday, with occasional evening or weekend work as required. Two positions are 0.7 FTE (28 hours per week), and one position is 0.6 FTE (24 hours per week).

The FIT for Symptomatic and Colonoscopy programme is a regional service focused on supporting patients through their diagnostic pathway and improving access to timely care. Working as part of a collaborative administration team, you'll help coordinate referrals, maintain patient pathways, and engage directly with patients to support participation and equitable health outcomes.

This role is part of the Nelson Marlborough region, there may be potential for some home-based and flexible working depending on service needs and your skills. You'll work closely with clinical and administrative teams across the region, helping to make a real difference for patients and whānau.
