Pasta Paradiso is looking for a Food Service Assistant to support customer service and daily operations at our pasta shop. This permanent role offers a minimum of 30 hours per week and pays NZD $25 to $28 per hour, depending on expirience. Pasta Paradiso is looking for a Food Service Assistant to support customer service and daily operations at our pasta shop.

This position pays NZD $25 to $28 per hour, depending on experience. Work will be rostered across shifts, including weekends.

About the role

You will provide friendly face-to-face customer service, take and process orders, serve and package pasta meals, assist with basic food preparation, and maintain clean and organised preparation and service areas.

Key tasks and responsibilities

• Welcome customers, explain menu options and take accurate orders.
• Answer customer enquiries and refer dietary or allergen questions to the person responsible for food preparation.
• Operate the till and process cash and electronic payments.
• Serve and package meals, checking that orders are accurate and appropriately presented.
• Assist with basic food preparation, including portioning ingredients, assembling meals, and helping to cook or heat pasta and sauces according to established instructions and training.
• Process takeaway and delivery orders and coordinate collection by customers and delivery drivers.
• Receive and store supplies, rotate stock and keep storage areas organised.
• Replenish ingredients, packaging and service supplies, and report shortages.
• Clean and sanitise utensils, equipment, preparation surfaces and customer service areas.
• Follow food safety, hygiene and workplace safety procedures.
• Assist with opening and closing the shop under the supervisor’s direction.

Reporting to: Shop Manager / Supervisor.

Minimum requirements

• At least one year of experience in a face-to-face customer service role.
• Availability to work rostered shifts, including weekends.

No formal qualification is required. Training in our menu, food preparation processes and shop procedures will be provided.
