Bar Manager and cafe Supervisor

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Bar Manager / Café Supervisor in Christchurch. This split-shift position combines daytime café hospitality—focusing on breakfast and barista operations—with evening bar management and supervisory leadership.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee and execute morning breakfast setup, customer service, and barista duties within the café environment.

Transition into evening bar management, supervising staff, organizing floor plans, and conducting briefings.

Handle fortnightly bar inventory, stock takes, and coordination with suppliers.

Ensure full compliance with New Zealand Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act requirements (Host Responsibility), licensing laws, and venue health and safety standards.

Drive sales through upselling, manage customer complaints, and complete end-of-day (EOD) financial reports.

Plan and oversee daily café and bar operations, including opening, service and closing procedures.

Coordinate bookings, functions and floor arrangements with the kitchen and service teams.

Requirements & Qualifications

Must hold a valid New Zealand Manager’s Certificate and LCQ (Liquor Control Qualification).

Tertiary qualification in Hotel Management and Catering Technology or a related field.

Minimum 2 years of solid experience in bar management, duty management, or senior food and beverage roles.

Exceptional leadership, staff rostering, and interpersonal skills.

Fully available for split-shift schedules covering morning café service and evening bar management.
