Provide general paediatric care in Tauranga Hospital while balancing clinics and on-call duties

Paediatrician - Tauranga Hospital

Tauranga Hospital is pleased to offer a 6 month fixed-term Consultant Paediatrician position, starting in January 2027. This 0.6FTE position is for a General Paediatrician in a secondary centre.

The job involves an equal share of the on-call roster, covering General Paediatrics and SCBU level 2 neonates. There are currently 10 Paediatricians and 2 fellows on the Consultant call roster. There are always 2 Senior staff on call, so you will be well supported, with an average call frequency of around 1 in 7. Outpatient responsibilities include 3 clinics per week.

We have a 23-bed inpatient ward, and 13 bed SCBU. Junior staffing cover is provided by 9 SHOs or Junior Registrars, and the 2 Senior Registrars.

Applicants should hold FRACP in General Paediatrics. It would be an ideal post for a junior consultant to gain valuable experience in a busy but enthusiastic and supportive department.
