We are now looking for a Cellar Door Manager to join our team at the Nockie’s Palette Cellar Door in Queenstown.

Job Description

This role will include, but not be limited to:

  • Running the day-to-day operation of the cellar door, including opening and closing, cash-up, banking and site security

  • Managing walk-in visitors, tasting bookings and group visits, and resolving visitor feedback and complaints

  • Preparing staff rosters, approving leave and managing wage costs against visitor numbers

  • Recruiting, inducting and training cellar door staff in wine service, point of sale procedures and responsible service of alcohol

  • Driving cellar door wine and retail sales and reporting sales figures to the General Manager

  • Managing cellar door retail stock, including stocktakes, ordering, pricing and display

  • Maintaining cleaning and maintenance schedules and ensuring compliance with alcohol licensing, food safety and health and safety requirements

  • Pay rate: $36.00 per hour

  • Hours per week: minimum 30 hours, maximum 55 hours per week

The successful applicant must have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree (NZQF Level 7 or above) in Hospitality Management or a related field OR at least 2 years of experience in hospitality supervisory or management roles, including leading front of house teams, rostering and stock control

  • Knowledge of food safety and health and safety requirements

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills

  • Availability to work weekends and public holidays on a rostered basis

The following will be an advantage:

  • Knowledge of wine

  • The ability to speak a second language, as many of our cellar door visitors are international tourists

  • Own reliable transport, as the cellar door is located on the Lake Hayes-Arrow Junction Highway outside central Queenstown
