About Edenvale Home & Hospital

Edenvale Home & Hospital is a boutique 41-bed facility located in Mt Eden, Auckland, offering 24/7 care to our Rest Home, Hospital, and Dementia residents.

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Healthcare Assistant for a permanent role starting mid December 2026.

The position involves providing specialised care to residents with significant health needs and utilising advanced skills gained through a New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing qualification.

Key Responsibilities

The role includes:

  • Administering medications.
  • Monitoring vital signs.
  • Assisting residents with complex personal care needs.
  • Writing personal care plans.
  • Collaborating with healthcare teams to ensure optimal patient wellbeing.

Suitable Candidates

Applicants must meet one of the following qualification and experience combinations:

Option 1

  • New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Level 5) qualification or international equivalent, or higher; and
  • A minimum of 1 year of relevant experience as a Healthcare Assistant or in a similar healthcare role.

OR

Option 2

  • New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Level 4) qualification or international equivalent; and
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience as a Healthcare Assistant or in a similar healthcare role.

Additional Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Be able to work shifts, including nights, weekends and public holidays.
  • Have reasonable competence in English.
  • Be fit and able to perform the role, which includes some lifting.
  • Have a clean criminal record, with no convictions relating to dishonesty or assault.
  • Be willing to complete credit, background and police vetting checks, if required.
  • Provide two confidential work references, including one New Zealand-based reference from recent employment.

Ideal Candidates

  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience is preferred. Experience in specialised health assistant care.

What We Offer

  • Permanent, full-time employment.
  • A minimum of 40 hours per week on the roster.
  • Additional hours may be offered from time to time, up to 8 hours extra per week.
  • All additional hours are paid at the standard hourly rate.
  • Hourly wage of $30.00 to $31.00, depending on experience and qualifications.
  • An additional $4.00 per hour weekend penal rate.
  • One-off $20 when working night shift.
  • Full paid, orientation and onboarding for new team members.
