We are a busy Japanese café located in Northcote Shopping Centre, seeking an experienced and motivated Café Manager to lead our team and drive our business forward. This role requires someone with excellent customer service skills, a passion for hospitality, and the ability to work independently while managing the daily operations of the café.
Key Responsibilities:
l Oversee the day-to-day operations of the café.
l Plan menus in consultation with staff.
l Organise and manage special functions.
l Recruit, train, and supervise both front-of-house and kitchen staff.
l Gather and assess customer feedback to ensure a high standard of service and satisfaction.
l Manage reservations, welcome guests, and assist with order-taking when necessary.
l Ensure compliance with all operational, health and safety, and food safety regulations.
l Provide excellent customer service and uphold service standards.
l Advise customers on Japanese food products and source additional stock as required.
l Develop and implement growth strategies to enhance business performance.
l Identify and explore business growth opportunities.
l Maintain appropriate stock levels to ensure availability while minimising waste.
l Ensure the café is clean, well-presented, and stock is appropriately displayed.
l Plan and execute marketing and promotional activities.
l Manage and update the Uber Eats menu.
About You:
To be successful in this role, you will need to have:
l A qualification at NZQF Level 5 or higher in business, management, or hospitality, OR at least two years of relevant work experience.
l Strong management, marketing, and communication skills.
l A proactive and motivated mindset, with the ability to work effectively under pressure.
l A sound understanding of hospitality industry operations.
l Availability to work weekends and flexibility with early and late shifts, as the café operates seven days a week.
l A clean police record and the ability to pass a pre-employment drug test.
