DUTY MANAGER

ROLE PURPOSE:
In this busy and experienced role, you will be responsible for managing compliance as a Duty
Manager. We run a busy restaurant and bar and in order to create memorable experiences every
day for our patrons. We are looking for multiple Duty Managers.
You will be an ambassador for the HEKE, both inside and outside the business, telling our story
through your actions which deliver on a commitment to excellent: ‘the HEKE’ way.
Importantly, you must be prepared to live long-term on Waiheke Island, Auckland, NZ.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
This is a varied and important role for the day to day operation of the Heke, key to the
coordination between customers and team members.
You will be confident to deliver responsible alcohol licensing adherence as a Duty Manager.
Duties include:
1. Customer service across all part of the front of house operations as required; food and
drink service.
2. Collaborating with the owners in driving and increasing customer satisfaction across the
site.
3. Co-ordinating effective people & practices.
4. Adherence to the legal compliance of the venue.
5. Maintaining venue presentation.
6. Act as an escalation point for customer feedback and complaints in regard to product and
service.
7. Ensuring all policies and procedures are implemented
8. Preparing for events, group bookings, tours and tastings as required.
9. Ensuring dining facilities comply with health regulations and are clean, functional and of
suitable appearance.
10. Maintaining records of stock levels and financial transactions
11. Leadership for junior staff to train them appropriately as required.
SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND BEHAVIOURAL TRAITS
This is not an entry-level position. We require candidates with at least 1 - 2 years of work
experience. In addition to this, you must also:
 Hold a current New Zealand Manager's Licence and LCQ.
 Proven experience in a busy Restaurant/Bar environment.
 Ability to manage the day to day restaurant tasks.
 Strong knowledge of what it takes to be best-practice.
 Adept at using POS and a range of software applications to maintain administration and
customer services.
 Excellent communication skills and a great can-do attitude.
 Attention to detail and showing initiative.
