Mō mātou – Our Organisation

Purapura Whetū emphasises that integration of care involves developing a coherent and comprehensive understanding of the needs of tangata whaiora, whānau, and is aimed at the enhancement of overall wellbeing rather than the treatment of specific disorders or problems.

Purapura Whetū is part of the Clinical Psychology Intern Hub Service across Aotearoa New Zealand. 2025 will see us in our third year of the pilot programme, after a great first and second year.

The name of the Intern Hub Service at Purapura Whetu is Te Whakaruruhau Waitaha (Te Whakaruruhau)

Applications are sought from suitably qualified candidates to provide Clinical Psychology Supervision for our Clinical Psychology Interns.
Te Whiwhinga mahi – The opportunity

Clinical Psychology Supervisor - Te Whakaruruhau Waitaha Clinical Psychology Intern Hub Service

He Ara Oranga, Report of the Government Inquiry into Mental Health and Addiction, calls for the transformation of Aotearoa New Zealand’s approach into mental health and addiction. The development of a skilled and resilient workforce is crucial to delivering this vision.

Clinical Psychology intern training represents a significant barrier to the growth of the Clinical Psychology Workforce. The growth of Clinical Psychologists will contribute to meeting the demand within the sector, across sectors and across levels of need. The clinical psychology programmes include an internship period where students are required to complete 1500 of supervised hours in a practical setting.

The supervisor position is part time, but if you are interested in field work to make up the other hours (making this a 1FTE role), we are open to negotiating as we are always looking to increase our clinical pool of kaimahi.
