As a Cook, you will be responsible for supporting the efficient operation of the kitchen. This includes assisting the Director in managing the kitchens catering services, maximising sales and profitability, and ensuring high food preparation and customer service standards.

About the Role

We are seeking experienced and enthusiastic Cooks to join our dynamic kitchen team. This role supports the effective operation of the kitchen, including assisting the Director with catering services, enhancing sales and profitability, and upholding high standards in food preparation and customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspecting food supplies to ensure quality and freshness
  • Regulating temperatures of ovens, grills, and other cooking equipment
  • Preparing and cooking food to a high standard
  • Seasoning dishes during cooking
  • Portioning food and presenting it with appropriate gravies, sauces, and garnishes
  • Storing food safely in temperature-controlled facilities
  • Preparing meals in accordance with specific dietary requirements
  • Assisting with menu planning and estimating food requirements (as needed)
  • Providing training and guidance to kitchen staff and apprentices (as required)

Key Requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience as a Cook, preferably specialising in Japanese or Asian cuisine
  • A minimum of two years’ relevant work experience or a recognised vocational qualification in culinary arts
  • Sound understanding of food hygiene and health and safety practices
  • Creative and precise culinary skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced kitchen environment, with previous experience in a supervisory or leadership capacity an advantage
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to teamwork
