Duty Manager (Bar Focus)

The Talisman Hotel in Katikati, Bay of Plenty (30 min from Tauranga) offers a delicious array of high-quality meals in our Bistro restaurant and beautiful summer Garden Bar. We pride ourselves on using only the freshest, locally sourced ingredients wherever possible.
We are looking for a Duty Manager to oversee the bar and working a variety of shifts (evenings, weekends and public holidays). You will be rostered on between Monday to Sunday 10am to 10pm. This is a permanent full-time position for one Duty Manager (Bar Focus). This role will be a minimum of 40 hours each week and up to 60 hours per week maximum. Weekends and nights are a requirement and non-negotiable. Public holidays may also be required.
We are looking to hire a Duty Manager (Bar Focus). This role has control and autonomy, thus we need someone who has experience with working in a Bar and is confident in such skills to teach others.
Responsibilities:
· Run the bar
· Assist in training staff
· Assist in managing team members
· Ensure service is run in an effective manor to ensure customer satisfaction
· Assist the director with beverage menus
· Ensure junior team members are given adequate support
· Provide the perfect service experience for every Guest
· Ensure the Guest feels important and welcome
· Ensure hot food is hot and cold food is cold
· Adhere to timing standards for products and services
· Look for ways to consolidate service and increase table turns
· Present menu, answer questions and make suggestions regarding food and beverage
· Serve the Guest in an accommodating manner
· Must know all food liquor, beer, wine and retail offered
· Apply positive suggestive sales approach to guide Guests
· Pre-bus tables; maintain table cleanliness, bus tables
· Looks for ways to avoid waste and limit costs
· Assist in keeping the restaurant clean and safe
· Provide responsible service of alcoholic beverages
· Deliver food and beverages to any table as needed
· Must follow all cash handling policies and procedures
· Report to property on time and in proper uniform
Requirements:
At least 2 years of experience in a relevant role – bar experience is required.
Good knowledge of spirits, wine/beer, cocktails.
The ability to manage customers, alcohol intake and ensure that liquor licence laws
are complied with at all times.
Exceptional customer service skills.
The ability to thrive under pressure.
A can-do, positive attitude.
No criminal record.
Excellent communication skills.
Pay rate between $25-$28 per hour depending on experience.
