Job Description:

GAJPATI TRADING LIMITED T/A GUJJU CHAAT HOUSE is currently seeking for a Cook.

Some of the duties and responsibilities you will be responsible for includes:

Required skills: The Cook needs to be able to make Indian traditional hot food snacks such as Samosa, Kachori, Spring Roll, Momos, Puff, Meduwada, Idli etc.

  • Being responsible for kitchen workflow.
  • Preparation of Samosa, puff, kachori and other hot food items recipes and packaging.
  • Managing all the hot food snacks, and supervising staff.
  • Undertaking all stock ordering and stock level report to manager.
  • Setup all the delivery of routine customers.
  • Training, managing packaging staff.
  • Ensuring kitchen health and safety compliance.
  • Always ensure cleanliness of kitchen.
  • Other duties as required by the Manager.
  • Ensure inventory is maintained and that all ingredients are stock in accordance with requirements as per the hot food snacks product in place.
  • Must be able to operate potato peeler Machine, commercial oven and prepare Samosa, kachori and snacks items.
  • Coordinate with delivery staff and follow daily order list and prepare all items as per daily order list.
  • Instruct the delivery staff as per the order from particular customers.
  • Ensure that all kitchen utensils, tools and equipment's are well maintained.
  • Discuss with management regarding customer preferences and advise if required for changes into the hot food snacks in line with demand.
  • Check and ensure quality of ingredients.
  • Implement new cooking techniques to enhance the customer experience.
  • Meet with clients where required to discuss catering requirements for functions.
  • Any other tasks involved in the management of the kitchen as well as the preparation of Samosa and hot food items of the restaurant.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience for the role of Cook or the qualification of NZQA Level 2 can substitute the requirement of work experience.
  • The selected candidate will receive detailed training.
  • Basic communication skills and the basic knowledge of technology to operate the equipment.
  • Able to work independently and make decisions in the kitchen for the betterment of the business.
  • Pass random drug and alcohol tests (when required)
  • Clear criminal record
  • Have an excellent manner with people, especially team members.
  • Reliable and flexible to change.
  • Must be able to work across any shifts including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
  • Must be able to work in split shifts.
  • Must be a fit, quick thinker, reliable, trustworthy, and self-motivated
  • Able to lift weights up to 25kg.
