Our busy wholesale bakery, located in Auckland, is looking for a Permanent, Full-Time Assistant Baker to join our team. The minimum work hours range from 32 to 46 hours per week, with an hourly wage of $28.00 – $33.00. Overtime payment will be $45.00 per hour. We prefer applicants who are legally eligible to work in New Zealand.

Job Description:

As an Assistant Baker, you will play a vital role in supporting our baking operations and ensuring the highest quality products. Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting in opening the bakery early in the morning.
  • Cleaning kitchen equipment and tools before use.
  • Weighing ingredients and preparing dough under the guidance of senior bakers.
  • Assisting in kneading, cutting, moulding, mixing, and shaping dough and pastry goods.
  • Supporting the baking of various bread types, including pretzels, baguettes, and multigrain breads.
  • Monitoring oven temperatures and product appearance during baking.
  • Assisting in shaping dough for pastries like croissants, cookies, and sweet rolls.
  • Helping with custom-made pastry preparation based on customer requests.
  • Coordinating with bakers in forming, loading, baking, unloading, and cooling batches of bread and pastry products.
  • Glazing buns, decorating cakes with cream and icing, and assisting with product finishing.
  • Ensuring workstations and baking trays are cleaned and maintained.
  • Tracking inventory and assisting with food supply orders as needed.
  • Maintaining high standards of food preparation and hygiene at all times.
  • Adapting to a fast-paced environment and assisting bakers efficiently.
  • Supporting the General & Function Kitchen Manager as required.
