Our Japanese cuisine restaurant-Kajiken, Wellington branch, is seeking a couple of Cooks to join our team. As a cook, you will be responsible for the preparation, cooking, and presentation of authentic Japanese dishes in a culinary setting. The role requires creativity, attention to detail, and a passion for Japanese cuisine.

Key Responsibilities:

• Addressing the special dietary needs of guests while ensuring cooking and service quality
standards are met.
• Doing pre-cooking tasks, such as adjusting cooking equipment temperatures.
• Applying seasoning and sauces during the cooking process, and plate dishes upon completion.
• Adhering strictly to health and safety requirements set by both the restaurant and relevant authorities.
• Supporting chefs in training kitchen staff and apprentices
• Storing food in a way that prevents spoilage.
• Performing any additional duties requested by the head chef or manager.

 

Requirements:
      

  • At least one year of relevant work experience in the hospitality industry is required and understanding of food safety regulations and commitment to maintaining a clean and sanitary quality.
  • Or, a relevant qualification at NZQF Level 4 or higher. 
  • Excellent understanding of food hygiene guidelines.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to work efficiently.
  • Passion for Japanese cuisine and dedication to delivering authentic dining experience to customers.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.

On the job training will be provided.
