Hours: Minimum 30 hours per week
Pay Rate: $27.00 – $33.00 per hour (based on experience and skills)

We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Cook to join our team at our business based in Rolleston, within the Canterbury region. This is a roster-based role that requires weekend availability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and cook meals to a high standard, maintaining consistency and quality at all times.
  • Estimate daily production needs and assess the quality of raw and cooked items.
  • Ensure all food is prepared, presented, and served according to company standards.
  • Follow food preparation, storage, receiving, and sanitation procedures.
  • Be fully familiar with all menu items, recipes, cooking methods, and presentation requirements.
  • Maintain hygiene and safety standards in accordance with regulations.
  • Operate kitchen equipment and utensils safely and responsibly.
  • Meet deadlines for food preparation and presentation.
  • Carry out general kitchen cleaning duties, including food prep areas and sculleries.
  • Clean cooking and general utensils used in food preparation.
  • Transfer, weigh, and check supplies and equipment.
  • Assemble and prepare ingredients for cooking.
  • Pack food and beverage trays for service.
  • Cook, toast, and heat simple food items as needed.
  • Regularly check expiry dates and ensure correct storage of all food items.
  • Ensure portion control, proper garnishing, and appropriate serving dishes are used.
  • Strictly comply with all food safety and health regulations.

Requirements:

  • A relevant qualification at NZQF Level 4 or higher, or at least 6 months of  relevant experience.
  • Experience with Vietnamese cuisine is welcomed
  • Availability to work on a rostered schedule, including weekends.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a busy kitchen environment.
  • Strong commitment to food safety and hygiene practices.
